THE FARM & VINEYARD:
This family-run is in the finest Tuscan agriturismo tradition, it offers top-quality service while also keeping busy producing organic wines and olive oil.
Its vineyards are high on a hilltop in ideal conditions for producing its highly rated organic Chianti Classicos: L’aura Chianti Classico and Sei Chianti Classico Gran Selezione.
Their vineyard and boutique winery can be visited and you learn a lot from the owners about what goes into producing top-quality organic wines.
They produce some good grappa and extra virgin olive oil, too, which can be sampled at the farmstay. You can, of course, just like the wine, buy some to take home.
THE LOCATION:
The famously beautiful countryside of Tuscany, especially Chianti, has been enticing visitors both domestic and foreign for generations now.
Its fertile farms have been producing a lot of Italy‘s best wines for hundreds of years before its fame as a cultured tourist destination began, and its rolling hills, winding roads and historical towns are something special.
At this farm stay you’ll be no more than 6 km from the lovely and very ancient Etruscan town of Castellina in Chanti.
The medieval fort town of Radda in Chianti is close by too, and about 13 km away you will find one of the area’s centerpieces: Greve in Chianti, maybe the most classic and beautiful town in a sea of classic and beautiful towns.
It’s a popular place with tourists but has a relaxed atmosphere and has a good number of Enotecas, typically Tuscan food and wine shops.
Outside the villages, the whole area, immediately around the farm and beyond has a lot of nice hiking and cycling routes where you can be left alone (but not always, especially in summer!) to ponder the beauty of the place.
The agriturismo is pretty near Florence too, about 45 minutes away by car, and it is even nearer to the lovely city of Siena, just a half an hour’s journey to the south.
