Huerto San Antonio is a luxury agritourism farm stay B&B near Madrid, Spain, offering rest and relaxation in a protected zone of the beautiful Sierra de la Cabrera.
THE ACCOMMODATION:
The property is gorgeous; it has 11 stylish rooms among seven different tastefully converted old stone cottages.
There are lots of rustic touches: bare stone walls and wood-beamed ceilings give a traditional farmhouse feel to the property.
All the rooms come with smart TV, WiFi & en-suite bathroom, and 3 of them also have a jacuzzi.
Outside there are various patio areas, a swimming pool, a Finnish sauna, a very good restaurant and bar, and plenty of common areas both inside and out, including a cosy indoor fireplace.
You’ll find the food excellent and they use plenty of their own fruits, vegetables, and herbs as well as other locally sourced produce.
They can cater to vegetarian and other dietary restrictions and are open all day for breakfast (included in the room rate) as well as lunch, dinner, and snacks throughout the day.
You’ll find all the staff friendly and helpful and they offer a range of services, including massage, babysitting, airport pick up and drop off, laundry services, mountain bike hire, etc..
They can also arrange tours and activities in the surrounding area, including horse riding.
THE FARM:
The property has over six acres of land with a chicken coop, vegetable gardens, and numerous orchard groves.
There are also a number of old wells and a woodland area with oaks, pines, and juniper that rises up towards the large granite outcrop known locally as “El Cancho Gordo”.
Just a short walk up the road too there is also the beautiful old convent of San Antonio to be discovered.
THE LOCATION:
The location is ideal for those seeking a bit of peace and tranquility near Madrid. It is only about 60km from the city and about 2km from the small town of La Cabrera but offers true rural bliss.
It is in the rocky wilderness of the Sierra de la Cabrera: a protected natural zone that contains a wealth of local animal and plant life and has some wonderful hikes, starting just outside your door.
Mountain biking is also popular around here and you can rent bikes directly from the farm stay.
You can explore all by yourself or the staff are always happy to arrange hiking, biking, and horse riding tours for you and other guests.
