Brockley Estate offers quality B&B in an 1840’s era colonial farmhouse on a 10,000 acre working sheep and cattle farm in Buckland, East Tasmania, Australia. It is a house full of character, with antique furnishings, old books and paintings throughout, and can feel very much like an escape from both urban and modern life though without compromising on modern comforts and conveniences. The food here is great, they do a fine breakfast and on request also serve some great evening meals with a unique Spanish twist; the menus are arranged by the co-owner Chaxi originally from Tenerife. It also has a well stocked wine cellar with a good range of Tasmanian wines, amongst them the Apsley Gorge pinot noir, rated among the world’s top wines, as well as some locally produced craft beers, whiskies and ciders. Guests are welcome to explore the farm, and the surrounding area with free bicycle available from the farmhouse, and the nearby Prosser River can be used for fishing and canoeing. Hobart airport is just under an hour away by car, with Triabunna, where the ferries to Maria Island depart about 20 mins away.
