This organic, eco-friendly farm package holiday stay near Taipei in Yilan County is a great place to experience farm life in Taiwan, with loads to see and do.
The location is gorgeous too; surrounded by those classically beautiful Yilan forested hills. The package accommodation comes with all meals provided including snacks and drinks throughout the day.
THE ACCOMMODATION:
They have several very spacious, comfortable rooms; doubles, twin rooms, and quadruples. They all come with air conditioning, satellite TV, and a private bathroom.
Outside there are some lovely gardens for strolling around, they have their own lake too, lots of outside seating, hammocks, etc., and an organic restaurant.
There’s a whole lot to do around the hotel and the farm: farm tours, games, adventure courses, and fun cooking lessons, as well as art classes where you can make bamboo ornaments, traditional lanterns, prints for bags and t-shirts, and plenty more.
The B&B accommodation comes as a package that includes breakfast & dinner as well as free snacks and drinks, tea, fresh juices, etc. throughout the day. They also organize sociable barbecues for guests as well.
THE FARM:
They do great guided tours of the eco-friendly, organic farm and the hosts are very knowledgeable about farming, animals, and crops.
They have animals including goats, ducks, hens, and even water buffalo, which guests are welcome to meet. You can get some animal feed from the farm owners to feed them with.
They grow rice, too, which you can have a go at planting yourself, plus crops like the very refreshing kumquat, which looks like a small orange and has an interesting taste, like a mixture of lime, lemon, and orange. They are great for making juices.
They have a number of other fruits and vegetables, too, and guests are welcome to pick any of them they want to eat. They also have a small bamboo forest from where they make bamboo products and a lake where you’re welcome to go fishing.
There are a few traditional Taiwanese farm huts around the farm which you can visit too, and get an insight into how a local farmer would have lived in bygone years.
THE LOCATION:
The farmstay has a great location, near Taipei in the heart of Yilan County on Taiwan’s northeast coast, and is surrounded by deep green wildlife-filled forests and hills.
You can hike from the farmstay and be surrounded by the deepest nature in just minutes. Or, if you feel like cycling, bikes can be hired for free from the farm.
It’s near Taipei, too, less than an hour’s drive, and the nearest train stations would be at either Guishan or Toucheng.
You’ll find so many places worth visiting in the surrounding area; fans of Japanese animation can visit the town of Jiufen, about half an hour away.
It’s a lovely old town with a Japanese colonial history that is still evident today, and its ancient, narrow streets were the model for one of the all-time most popular Japanese animations; Spirited Away.
For nature lovers this region is full of great days out; The Yilan Coast Scenic Area is internationally famous and you take a trip along the Caoling Ancient Trail from Fulong to Dali in about four hours of hiking through some incredible scenery.
There are so many other places to see too; for wine lovers, there is the Cang Jiu winery just up the road from the farm stay. You can then relax at the Jiaosi hot springs or maybe watch the dolphins at Wushi harbour.
