Sunnyside Farm has a lovely and very spacious cottage to rent for up to 12 people at the edge of the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park, one of the highlight of any journey through rural Wales. The farm is an award winning sheep and cattle farm which you are welcome to walk around, and to watch, or take part in, different seasonal activities such as bottle feeding spring lambs for example or wool rolling during shearing time. You’ll find plenty of nice field & woodland walks, and mountain bike trails, around the immediate area too, and of course for more serious hiking there is the magnificent scenery of the Brecon Beacons just a few miles away. THE ACCOMMODATION: The cottage is large, it has seven bedrooms in total and can sleep up to twelve quite comfortably, but it still retains a nice cosy countryside cottage feel. There is a large living room with an adjoining, spacious, dining room and also a kitchen well enough equipped to cater for any occasion and which includes a washing machine and a dishwasher. The lounge area has digital TV and DVD player and there is WiFi throughout the house. Outside there is also plenty of space to enjoy with a patio and outdoor seating. As mentioned previously, you are free to wander all around the farm and to join some of the farm activities and you can take off on hikes or mountain bike rides in the surrounding area where you’ll find plenty of scenic trails to be explored. The friendly farm owners stay nearby and will always be at hand with help or advice and they can arrange things such a local bike hire and grocery deliveries etc. Pets will be welcomed at the farm but be aware it is a sheep farm so dogs should obviously be kept well controlled! THE LOCATION: The farm is just six miles from the village of Brecon, the gateway to the Beacons. It is a deeply rural area of rolling green hills, farms, woodland, winding country roads and quaint little villages, the most well known being Hay-on-Wye which hosts a world famous annual literary festival in late May-early READ MORE

Not many people will know that there is a small wine producing industry in valleys of South Wales, but there is, and the luxury Llanerch Vineyard Hotel in Hensol, Vale of Glamorgan, is definitely a highlight, with top quality accommodation in a beautiful setting. THE ACCOMMODATION: Their rooms and suites are five star luxury; spacious and stylish, they are all en-suite and have a dining and sitting area with a study desk and flat screen TV and WiFi as standard. Outside there is plenty of space to relax in the well kept gardens and terrace, where weather permitting you can dine on the terrace also. THE FOOD & THE WINE: Once that surprise has been overcome the next surprise is that, despite the difficulties with, amongst other things the disagreeably inconsistent Welsh weather, the wines are actually good. They produce a range of award winning Cariad wines, all white at the moment due to the cool climate, though they say they have ambitions to produce a red in the future. So, a stay at Llanerch can teach you a lot about wine, with vineyard tours and tasting sessions for example, but it can also teach you about food, having a superb restaurant and bistro where celebrity chef Angela Gray heads the kitchen, and you can also join one of her almost daily cookery classes where you can learn a whole range of dishes, most with a Mediterranean twist, that fit their wines well. THE LOCATION: Such is the lovely, unique environment at Llanerch Vineyard Hotel that many people don’t venture much outside the grounds at all, but for those that do the countryside around the Vale of Glamorgan is famously lovely, with plenty of hiking trails through peaceful hills and woodlands. For golfers the nearest course is at Creigiau, about 10 minutes away by car. Note: No children and no pets allowed! WHAT OTHER GUESTS SAY: “Fantastic one night stay as attending a wedding locally. Beautiful, cosy rooms with huge comfortable bed. Hot, powerful shower and spotlessly clean. Staff were really friendly and the breakfast was delicious….” “What an amazing find, beautiful place just off the M4 but in the READ MORE

THE LOCATION: The countryside around Pembridge, Herefordshire is rich farming land, mainly flat up to the Radnor and Shropshire Hills in the north, and the beautiful Black Mountains dominating the skyline to the west in neighbouring Wales. Pembridge itself is a typically quaint and pretty, old English village, as are nearby Weobly and Eardisland, and famous for their half timbered black and white houses which put them on Herefordshire’s so called Black and White tourist trail Other nice days out can be found in the market towns of Ross-on-Wye, Hay-on-Wye, Ledbury and Leominster. The busy town of Hereford too is worth a look with its famous Cathedral which houses the infamous Magna Carta plus an impressive example of a medieval era world map the Hereford Mappa Mundi. There are a couple of bikes at the farm which guests are free to use, subject to availability. WHAT OTHER GUESTS SAY: “My wife and I were made extremely welcome. There was nothing too much trouble to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We were treated like one of the family with everything to hand whenever we wanted it.
